Monastery of Saint John of Caaveiro

A millennium-old sanctuary of spirituality in the heart of the Fragas do Eume

Hidden deep in the forest stands this ancient monastery. Legend has it that it was in the year 934 when San Rosendo decided to build this cenobium on a rocky cliff at the confluence of the Eume and Sesín rivers, to gather the hermits who inhabited the area.

It is the most relevant historical-artistic monument in the Eume and a place you must visit without exception if you explore the Lands of Anaris.
