Archbishop Rajoy's Palace

Archbishop Rajoy's Palace

A Baroque palace in the heart of Pontedeume

The palace was built in the second half of the 18th century by the Archbishop of Pontedeume, Don Bartolomé Rajoy y Losada (1690-1772), on the site that was once his father's house, the apothecary Nicolás Rajoy. The facade harmoniously combines elements typical of the baroque Compostelan school with newer, more classical features influenced by French style. It consists of a ground floor with arches and square pillars, two floors with balconies adorned by giant order pilasters, and a crowning feature containing the Archbishop's coat of arms.
