Hydroelectric Power Plant of A Ventureira

Hydroelectric Power Plant of A Ventureira

An old power plant in the heart of the Eume River

The A Ventureira Power Plant was one of the first mini-power plants in Galicia from the early 20th century that harnessed the water resources of the Eume River and the Teixido stream to generate electricity.

The plant was operated by different electric companies for more than 35 years until, in 1959, with the commissioning of the reservoir and the new power plant, it was closed and abandoned.

The main building can be surrounded by a perimeter corridor, and a small window opened in the door leaf allows us to peer inside and contemplate the enormous turbines once used for generating energy.
