Hermitage of San Miguel de Breamo

Hermitage of San Miguel de Breamo

On the summits of Mount Breamo, a silent witness to Galician Romanesque.

The hermitage of San Miguel de Breamo is located atop the said mountain, about 3 km from Pontedeume, following the N-651 road and taking the turn at the location of O Barro. During the ascent to the hermitage, one can contemplate one of the most beautiful views of Pontedeume, the birth of the estuary, the beach of Magdalena de Cabañas, and the mouth of the Eume River. The church, from the 12th century and belonging to the Romanesque style, has a Latin cross plan and three semicircular apses. In Galicia, only three other churches respond to this typology.
