Lands of Anaris

A territory cut by the mythical Eume River, in the last European Atlantic forest

Medieval wall

Medieval wall

Stony witness of the town's defense.

The wall, with 9 towers and five gates (Ponte, Salga, Porto, Postigo, Carnicería), extended along the seaside, bordered the palace, followed the current streets of Picho and Tafona, and descended near the Augustinian Convent, including the fountain within the walled enclosure. Alongside the atrium of the Church of Santiago, near what used to be the Postigo gate, built in 1619, the base of the ancient wall is preserved.
